On January 3, 1777, General George Washington’s Army clashed with British General Lord Charles Cornwallis’ Crown Forces in Princeton, NJ. The battle site was an inauspicious location for Thomas Clarke and his family since fighting occurred on his property. This poem is what an account may have been like for an eyewitness.
